As usual, I had a mini hiatus due to work and school but I am swimming with posts I want to share! With the year ending so quickly, I'm hoping to get a bunch of posts up (especially my Halloween costume and some Christmas related things...) before then. I'm thinking about staying in New Years Eve since I've been super busy and barely home since my winter break started. Perhaps that will be the perfect time to do that! Keeping my fingers crossed. It's almost 2016! Oh my!

Finally! My cross stitch sampler is framed and hanging! I've been looking for the perfect simple wood frame (on a budget) since last year. While I've considered a few, it was hard finding a color I really liked with a reasonable price. Surprisingly, I found this frame at the 99 Cents Store while buying school supplies for my classroom. YAY!! It was originally suppose to be used to hold certificates but fits my sampler just fine.
It fits into the current wall decor perfectly! Now I'm considering paying the store another visit and buying a couple more haha.

It's October, and you know what that means! Halloween is coming! My sister got me these cute washi tapes from Daiso to use on my planner. Since I love Halloween, I actually went ahead and did my layouts for the whole month!

One of the things I've been working on is my new, big, beautiful 17-month planner from ban.do!! I got it in the "florabunda" print which has since sold out. I've noticed that decorating planners/agendas have become a big thing in recently, which has been fun to see. It's a great way to keep organized and create a mini scrapbook simultaneously! I decided on a more simple style as opposed to the more elaborate ones you see on Instagram because I like to doodle on my planner and sometimes stick little momentos on the pages. I never know how much space I'll need so I figured creating open layouts would be better for me.

Oh my! A lot has happened since my last post. It's already Fall, now? It's been tough trying to find the time to update the blog and lead my own classroom full-time now that the school year has begun! My masters/credential classes just started up again this past week, too :( But enough of that, let's catch up!

Don't know what to get a crafty friend? Make them a craft kit! I have a lot of little items that I use for crafts so this was really easy to make. I bought a plastic organizer box from Daiso (of course) and filled it up with little goodies and craft supplies that I thought my friend would like.

I'm quite a big fan of the Japanese discount chain, Daiso, as you probably know from seeing my some of my posts (here, here ,here, here, here, and here). Recently, the Daiso stores near me have really improved the variety in their home decor section. Last month, I redecorated my desk area so I LOVED this! As I'm typing this, the wooden stand and white frame are sitting proudly on my desk exactly as you see them. :)
They have been stocking pretty wooden shelving units (center of this picture) and my friend Janet recently gifted me with this one. I'm using to hold my small figurines. If you lie them flat on a table, they make great divided compartments for storing school supplies, too!
They also have these cute house-shaped wooden frames. I was really lucky as Janet gifted me this one since as well. Technically, you're suppose to place this on your desk but I thought it would make wall decor to hold several little houses I have. (How fitting, right?)
I was also really happy to see these cute bulletin boards! The price is a little higher at $3.00 but still really affordable. I used mine to hang some keychains that I love but didn't want to get worn and damaged hanging with my actual keys.
Now I know Daiso has always sold mugs but I thought this one in particular would be perfect for holding deco tapes for easy access on my desk.
Bravo, Daiso for being a great resource for decorating on a budget!

Last week, my sister mentioned that she wanted to gift her friend a diaper cake for her baby shower. I had a vague notion of what that was and offered to make one for her to bring. After scouring the internet for pictures, I created this 17.5 inch tall (21 inches with the topper) cake using 72 diapers! It was really fun to make and looked adorable. I've included a tutorial to this post in case you'd like to make one as well!

These past few weeks, I have been busy cleaning and redecorating during my time off work and school. My sister recently gave me this bulletin board (I love free stuff!) and I decided to add a few quick touches to spruce it up a bit to hang some art prints.

My friend Ling is quite the artist. She can bake, sew, sculpt, crochet, paint and is constantly working on some sort of crafty project. Here are some of the beautiful hand painted watercolor postcards she has sent me.
She can paint animals.
She can paint natural scenes.
And she can paint lovely lettering! I nagged her for this one. It's one of my favorite books, Pride and Prejudice!
You can follow more of her work on...

Summer is almost here! Here are two things I made last summer. Above is a hat I decorated while attending an event for my friend's volunteer group. Below is a mason jar candle holder I made at a crafternoon with a couple of friends. I definitely have to make some time to craft this summer. So little time, so much to do!

Since academics have been keeping me away from this blog, I thought it would be very appropriate to blog about this basic math concepts board I made for one of my class assignments a while back. It's definitely one of my more educational projects. This board is intended to be a visual and hands-on way for students to learn basic math concepts such as counting, numeral-quantity recognition, addition, subtraction, and more/less recognition. Exciting stuff for kids, right?!

My friend, Janet, surprised me with some cross stitch supplies this past Saturday. YAYY!!! She doesn't cross stitch and I've mentioned to her before how much I've been wanting to get back into cross stitching. Well, I'm super happy because it was quite a haul!

My friend Susan gifted me this ridiculously cute Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Instant Film Camera months ago. I haven't had the chance to use it very much but I plan to pull it out much more often this summer (I can't believe we only have a few more months until summer!)
I recently bought more accessories and film for it so I can do some experimenting without worrying that I'll run out of film.
I also bought these adorable stickers that are suppose to cover the frame of the instant film.
I can't wait to take more pictures and customize them using these neat stickers! Look at those colors and patterns!

A while ago, one of my coworkers gave me this cute Felt Sweets Kit from Daiso to work on. It was pretty simple and I'd definitely recommend it for those who love a good craft project without the hassle of buying a bunch of materials.

Ling, one of my good friends and also a talented artist and baker. It was a reply message to the puzzle valentine I had sent her for Valentine's Day. Isn't this such a cool reply?! I wish I had half the talent that she has! I'm thinking of framing this and placing it beside my desk. It reminds me that I need to go get sushi more often haha.
Hope all is well with you all!

Happy Lunar/Chinese New Year, everyone! This year, I decided to make little treat bags using red envelopes (hongbao) to give to my co-workers. I thought it would be a fun way to celebrate the day even though it's not very traditional. (Fun Fact: Traditionally, only married individuals are expected to give red envelopes. Money should be included in the envelopes and given to unmarried loved ones).
It was super easy as I just stuffed fortune cookies, chocolate coins and lucky candy into the packets. At work, we had the kids make red envelopes, dragon parade puppets and Chinese lanterns to celebrate the holiday, using some resources we found online. Over all, it was a great day and a great start to the new lunar year! In finishing this post, I would love to leave you all with a new year greeting:
In this year of the goat, may you
be proud and exalted in life,
revel in your business success,
have a smooth career path,
and be free from worries.
May you become rich,
and be happy every day!

For this year's Valentine's Day, I wanted to make some special valentines to send in the mail. I started earlier this year and whipped out these puzzle valentines for some friends that I don't get to see very often. I wanted to send something a little more interactive this year. So here's a card for those of you who want your valentine to work a little harder for their message!

Last Saturday, I had a crafting session with Alisa and Hwanhee. Alisa is throwing a Valentine's Day party next Sunday and we went over to make some of the decorations. Unfortunately, we didn't get to do much since we got distracted with installing a new fish tank for her fish, Hammy, but we did get these Valentine's Day themed candle holders done! Alisa found this cute project on Pinterest and we thought we'd give it a shot!

Two weeks ago, the students made puzzle snowflakes to celebrate winter (even though we don't get any snow in California!). It was pretty simple to make and the kids seemed to enjoy making them. It's also a great way to get rid of any puzzles that are missing pieces!

A couple of blog posts ago I shared some holiday crafts made by students at my work place. This snowman was one of the crafts that was sold by another classroom. I thought it was really clever and decided to make a tutorial for it. It's a squeezable, mold-able snowman and very easy to make! This is a great project if you have stray socks that have somehow lost their counterpart, as it only requires one sock. Christmas has been over for awhile but there's still some time left in the winter season. ;)

Wow! I can't believe it's already 2015! That means I get to start my new Lily Pulitzer planner shown above. I'm aware that this one begins in August but I was using a January-December planner prior to receiving this from my sister last month. I decided to wait until the end of the year to use it since the year was almost up and also because I think a new year should have a fresh start!
I've been also trying to cram in some last minute relaxation time before I start work on Monday and classes on Tuesday. :( Unfortunately, I spent most of this past week with a cough and runny nose but I was still able to spend New Year's Day at Disneyland with some lovely friends. :) I also finally got an Instagram which has taken my procrastination to another level (oh no!). I have a couple of craft posts coming up but for now, let's get onto some crafting resolutions for the new year!
