For one of the Holiday Open House crafts, we made some simple potpourri wreaths to sell as wall decorations. Although wreaths are usually associated with the winter season, you can definitely change the vibe depending on the color and scent of your potpourri!
You Will Need
hot glue gun
three 6-inch paper plates
ribbon or washi tape
decorative pieces/buttons (optional)
stapler or tape (optional)
STEP 1: Cut a hole in the center of the plate, leaving approximately an inch-wide ring. Make three of these rings.
STEP 2: Once you have three rings, stack them together to make a sturdy wreath base.
STEP 3: After stacking the rings together, you may start decorating your wreath with ribbon or wrap washi tape around it. You can also staple or tape the rings together prior to wrapping the ribbon to further stabilize the rings during this step.
STEP 4: Using a hot glue gun, start gluing the potpourri onto the ring. Layer on the glue generously to ensure each piece is fully stuck onto the wreath. Here, I'm using a vanilla scented potpourri.
STEP 5: Once the potpourri pieces are glued into place, you may fill in the gaps with additional pieces of potpourri or other decorative pieces. I chose to keep it simple and added more potpourri pieces to wreath.
STEP 6: Tie a ribbon to the top of the wreath and you are finished!
You can make these wreaths for any occasion and using any type of potpourri! Here's another version of the mini wreath using red Apple and Cinnamon scented potpourri.
If you don't have or want to use potpourri, there are many different combinations you can use to create a cute wreath to fit your occasion. Here are a couple that were made by my students for the Holiday Open House.
